Where to Wander on Vancouver Island This Week

Vancouver Island View

If you’ve been waiting for that unmistakable mix of twinkling lights, handmade treasures, and the smell of baked goods… the wait is over!

My updated guide to Christmas Markets on Mid-Vancouver Island is now live, and it’s packed with festive events happening all through November and December.

While the markets bring the sparkle, nature brings the drama. Thanks to all that rain, the waterfalls are absolutely roaring right now. If you’re looking for a great one to chase, I have a list of my top 20.

When you need a gentler pace, I’ve also got a few lovely spots for a peaceful wander.

Read below for all the details.

Markets Galore!

On any given weekend from now until mid-December, you'll find a Christmas market that's sure to help you find gifts for everyone on your list.

Spectacular Waterfalls

This list of my favourites should help you discover a waterfall trail near you.

Buttertubs Marsh

For a quieter approach to nature, head to Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo. It's so lovely at this time of year.

Hidden Gem

While not a new hidden gem, this spot in Ladysmith is a favourite of mine during the fall. Quiet, out of the way, and absolutely gorgeous.

As always, thank you for exploring the Island with me. Have a great week!

~ Kim

Vancouver Island View Fall on the Island is my happy place. Moody mornings, golden maples, quiet beaches, and that first excuse to order something cinnamon-spiced. (No pumpkin-spice for this girl). This week I’ve got three goodies for you: a brand-new Fall Itinerary, a playful list of haunted places (it’s that time!), and an ebook deal you’ll want to grab before it disappears. 5-Night Fall Itinerary Think scenic detours, salmon-run lookouts, forest walks, and storm-watching cozy-ups. Vancouver Island View As the seasons shift, Vancouver Island shows off a quieter kind of beauty. While the east coast of Canada is famous for fiery displays of maples, our forests here take a different approach. You won’t find endless stretches of scarlet and crimson, but what you will find is a stunning mix of golds, yellows, and soft russets set against deep evergreens — a contrast that feels uniquely west coast. I’ve refreshed my Fall Foliage article with the best spots to see these...
