Christmas craft fairs to put on your calendar

Vancouver Island View

If you’re anything like me, you go to a Christmas craft fair looking for a gift and end up coming home with a little something for yourself, too.

It’s hard to resist a handmade mug that feels just right in your hands, or an ornament that reminds you of somewhere you love on the Island.

The first fairs are already getting underway, so I’ve updated my 2026 Christmas Craft Fair Guide with November and December markets for the Mid-Island.

There’s everything from big events like Once Upon a Craft Fair in Nanaimo to smaller community hall markets where you can take your time, chat with the makers, and pick up some home baking on your way out.

The guide is organized by date, so you can see what’s on this weekend or pick a couple of markets in the near future to visit on the same day.

Closer to Victoria?

I’ve kept my list focused on the mid-Island, but there’s plenty happening on the South Island, too.

Victoria Buzz has seven Greater Victoria markets to check out this weekend, November 6–8.

And if you’re planning further ahead, look for “Merry Markets” in YAM Magazine’s November/December issue.

There's also this wonderful Art Show & Sale happening in Sidney.

The Studio 30 Art Club is having an art show and sale on November 6th-12th from 10 am – 4 pm daily. The Artists' Recpetion is on Nov. 7, from 1 pm - 3 pm, and you can enter a free draw for a gift basket.

The show will take place at the ArtSea Gallery, 9565 Fifth Street in Sidney, BC.

This local non-profit society has been operating for over 40 years. Club members work in various mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel, and mixed media.

The art show will feature original artwork, art cards, and more from over 25 artists.

Vancouver Island View Viewing wildlife at this time of year gives us another great reason to head outside. Salmon are returning bringing the opportunity to witness large raptors, black bears, and otters along the river banks. And a drive through Youbou might reward you with Roosevelt elk. This week, I’m sharing two ideas for a fall outing that combines beautiful scenery with a little wildlife watching. Pack your binoculars and give yourself time to slow down and see what’s around you. Vancouver Island View My husband and I both turned 50 in August, and we celebrated with a bucket-list trip to Iceland. We rented a car and spent just under two weeks travelling around the country, loosely following the famous Ring Road. Along the way, we saw so many waterfalls that I quickly lost count, along with dramatic mountains, rugged ocean scenery, sprawling lava fields, geothermal areas, the northern lights, glaciers and icebergs. We passed more sheep than I could ever count and...
