A fresh look at Nanoose Bay

Vancouver Island View

I spend a lot of time exploring all across Vancouver Island, chasing new places and experiences.

But every now and then, I’m reminded that some of the best spots are the ones right here at home.

After revisiting a few old favourites in Nanoose Bay, I thought I’d share, so you can perhaps revisit as well.

Moorecroft Regional Park (Updated)

If you’ve been following along for a while, you already know this is a place I keep coming back to. And for good reason.

Moorecroft Regional Park is one of those rare coastal spaces where everything just feels right. It offers quiet forest trails, ocean views, and that peaceful feeling you don’t always get at the more popular spots.

If it’s been a while since your last visit, this is your sign to go again.

Enos Lake Trail — Now a Hidden Gem

I recently returned to the Enos Lake Trail, hoping to revisit the seasonal waterfall tucked along the route.

The problem?

I couldn’t remember exactly how to find it.

We even asked a local—someone who claims to walk these trails all the time—and even she had no idea where to find it. She motioned with her hand in a vague direction towards the lake.

That’s when it hit me…

This isn’t just a nice little feature. It’s a true hidden gem.

So instead of keeping this as a public article, I’ve moved it into my Hidden Gems collection. I've even added a detailed map so you can actually find the waterfall (plus a few other special seasonal spots worth exploring).

If you love discovering places that still feel untouched… this one’s for you.

A Local Favourite for After Your Adventure

And because every good outing needs a great place to refuel…

You have to stop at Nanoose Bay Cafe.

Whether you’re grabbing lunch, or appies and drinks during Happy Hour, it's a perfect spot to wind down after a morning or afternoon on the trails.

Moorecroft Park

For an easy, peaceful oceanside walk that still feels special.

Enos Lake

Whether you're an avid hiker, birdwatcher, or simply seeking a peaceful spot to wander, Enos Lake delivers.

Nanoose Bay Cafe

Whether you’re looking for a fine dining experience, a casual bite, coffee and pastries, or handcrafted artisan goods, this waterfront restaurant in Nanoose Bay truly has something for everyone.

Youth Voices Shine in “Mindfulness in May” Arts Exhibition

April 28 – May 10, 2026 | Qualicum Beach Library (660 Primrose Street)

The annual Mindfulness in May Youth Arts Exhibition returns this spring, inviting the community to celebrate the creativity and insight of local youth.

Founded and curated by Diane Moran in partnership with the Vancouver Island Regional Library, the exhibition runs during library hours at the Qualicum Beach branch.

Presented in recognition of BC Youth Week and National Mental Health Week, this year’s theme, “The Art of Empathy and Kindness,” highlights the importance of compassion and connection. The show features visual art, photography, and poetry by over 20 young artists from School District 69 and Oceanside home learners.

Community members are warmly invited to visit the exhibition, engage with the artwork, and vote for their favourite piece for the People’s Choice Award.

Enjoy that sunshine!

Vancouver Island View Telegraph Cove tends to get most of the attention when people talk about Vancouver Island's historic boardwalk communities. And while it's certainly worthy of its reputation, it's not the only place where you can stroll wooden walkways above the water and experience life in a coastal village. This week, I found myself reflecting on three communities that showcase a unique side of Vancouver Island's coastal heritage: Telegraph Cove, Bamfield, and Winter Harbour. Each has...

Vancouver Island View Summer road trip season is officially here, and few drives showcase the beauty of Vancouver Island quite like the journey from Victoria to Tofino. While most travellers focus on reaching the west coast as quickly as possible, some of the island's most memorable experiences happen along the way. From waterfalls and towering old-growth forests to scenic viewpoints and hidden gems, I've put together a guide featuring nine free stops that can transform an ordinary drive into...

Vancouver Island View One of the things I love most about Vancouver Island is that there's always something new to discover. Sometimes it's a hidden trail, a quiet beach, or a beautiful garden. Other times, it's a completely unique experience that makes you stop and think, "I need to do that!" That's exactly how I felt when I learned about the new Keogh River Bear Tour with Go North Island. This isn't your typical bear-watching excursion. Instead of viewing wildlife from a large boat or...
